COLLAGE

My collages represent the complex, flabbergasting tapestry of existence and symbolize the intricate puzzle of life. Each work is both a rupture and a reconciliation, a meditation on how chaos can yield harmony through reconfiguration. The collages invite viewers to uncover meaning — even in surreal scenarios — and to engage with the deeper currents of memory, identity, and perception. Situated within a metamodern framework, the collages operate in a state of oscillation rather than resolution—between fragmentation and connection, control and surrender, skepticism and the persistent desire for meaning.

My creative process represents the fundamental architecture of the human brain, which is not designed to passively record reality but to actively assemble it. Through processes of memory reconstruction, prediction, and association, the brain continuously weaves fragments of perception, emotion, and experience into provisional stories that shape identity without ever fully stabilizing it. By tearing images apart and reassembling them, my work reflects this cognitive defragmentation—where memories are reconfigured rather than retrieved, and meaning arises through juxtaposition, tension, and resonance rather than coherence.

Neuroscience suggests that while the brain is compelled to construct narratives, it offers no clear boundary between what is adaptive and what is maladaptive; much of this process unfolds below conscious control. We remain, to a large extent, opaque to ourselves—shaped by stories we did not intentionally choose and cannot fully oversee, even once we become aware of them. This lack of authorship is echoed in the collages’ visual logic: torn edges replace clean lines, incompatible images coexist, and spatial cues collapse into interwoven dimensions that resist gravity and stable orientation. The resulting tension produces a sense of disorientation and mild frustration, mirroring the way identity and meaning are negotiated rather than mastered. In this way, the work reflects how reality is always filtered—never neutral, never fully coherent—and how perception itself exists in a fragile balance between flexibility and fixation.

Within a metamodern sensibility, the collages inhabit the oscillation between fragmentation and meaning, skepticism and longing. They acknowledge the postmodern condition—discontinuity, contradiction, and the collapse of stable narratives—while still allowing space for resonance, curiosity, and affect. Much like the brain itself, which constructs provisional stories without guaranteeing coherence or control, the works resist fixed interpretation yet invite engagement. The tension between disorientation and recognition, frustration and wonder, reflects a metamodern stance: neither the promise of total harmony nor the comfort of irony, but a sincere confrontation with complexity.
